Merry Christmas Nerds! Today I have something a little different. Two short flicks and one movie. It’s Christmas so I won’t talk long. You can find a full list at the end of this post.

The first flick you should watch on Christmas is yet another classic for the 80’s and 90’s kids. It’s a film that came out in 2003 so many of us were old enough to go on our own to see it in theaters either with friends or maybe even your family. That movie, is Elf.

People have a love hate relationship with Will Farrell. If you’re one of the people who hate him then you’ve probably already skipped down to the next movie. Though I know people who don’t like Farrell, but enjoy this movie. They forgive his goofy style of comedy more because it’s such a nice Christmas movie.

This is a great story. The writer David Berenbaum took a couple familiar ideas and made this movie. A film about finding your place, finding your family, and the true meaning of Christmas. The scene at the end of this film with Zooey Deschanel and the crowd singing always moves me and that’s always impressive. Whenever a movie can bring out other emotions than it’s genre usually does, it shows the dimensions the films has.

I believe this is one of the best, if not the best, live action Christmas movies of all time and it’s the perfect film to watch while you’re opening gifts. It’s old a familiar so you can keep it on and enjoy it even when focusing on gift giving.

The next two movies on the list are short. In fact, they’re not really movies, which is why I felt it was okay to pile three things on your plate today. Three movies/shows/Christmas specials that you can have on and go about your day or even marathon as your family enjoys time together. The next film is the 1966 version of How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

I like the Jim Carrey version of this film but the live action interpretation doesn’t even compare to the original animated movie. The songs, the animation, the voice acting, it’s pure nostalgia from beginning to end and it fills me with an amazing amount of childhood joy to this day. It blows my mind that there are people out there, Christmas celebrating people, who haven’t seen the original version of this Christmas classic.

My dear nerd, if you know anyone who has never seen the film, then please right that wrong and show them the best version of the Grinch story.

There’s going to be a new animated version of this flick in 2018 and I bet you it’ll be fine. I bet you it’ll be an enjoyable movie that will get a recommendation from me. But I also bet you that it will also fall short in comparison to this one.

And my fellow Nerds. My Future Fans, the last flicks on the list for this Christmas. The last movie on Billiam’s 12 Flicks of Christmas list is the only movie I never forget to watch on Christmas day.

I’ve mentioned this before on an old Nerd Talk with the SomewhatNerdy Crew. This is my favorite Christmas movie. It’s technically a special as it’s not theatrical length. But if I had to pick only one thing to watch each and every Christmas, it would be this.

Charlie Brown is the character who can never win and it’s always good to see him come out of a situation on top, as rare as it happens. Charles Schultz died before Charlie Brown could kick the football or actually talk to the little red haired girl but in this special we get to see him have a nice Christmas with his friends.

This film may have a main character who whines about the materialization of Christmas and a monologue about the birth of Christ but it’s stuffy like a movie with so many messages should be. This has the charm of a kids movie but the meaning and memories for adults. This is the best thing to watch on Christmas, hands down. This will be on the list next year and just like this year it will be paired with a great Christmas movie.

Well my fellow nerds, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and I hope you get everything you wanted. I hope you got to spend time with friends and family and got to relax and have fun. I hope you got to eat good food and I hope you got to drink some eggnog. I also hope you enjoyed my 12 Flicks of Christmas and played along at home. If you didn’t get to watch all of these films this year then please keep them in mind for next year.

Have a Happy New Year as well and keep your eyes and ears open for the Future Flicks with Billiam 2017 year in review podcast coming to you soon.

Merry Christmas and thank you for reading.
