During the Diablo III Beta’s stress test this past weekend, we took the opportunity to experience a bit of what Blizzard Entertainment has in store for you on the release date of May 15th.  The Beta granted testers access to levels 1-13, five classes and a fun starting quest line to introduce the player to some major characters that are sure to be supporting him throughout the game while setting an eerie tone to the journey ahead . Their latest installment of the Diablo franchise looks to be very simplified in controls, limiting the player to 6 spells at any one moment. Unlike previous Diablo games, there is no skill tree. Instead, abilities are learned through leveling up and each can be augmented via runes, which are also attained through leveling. An achievement system has been put in place, through which players can earn new banners, in-game items and titles to tote about proudly while slaying the minions of the remaining Lords of Hell. The total experience was fun, easy to pick up and fairly addicting.

During my incubation period, the world could barely withstand the strain as it shook with anticipation. My arrival was met with devastation to Mexico and Argentina via earthquake, Canada was ripped through by a swarm of tornadoes, and Hurricane Gloria mangled the east coast of North America. It was as though the elements were sounding the arrival of their king with all the vigor they could muster. Pleased to meet you, won't you guess my name?
