The new 52 from DC Comics has made Aquaman a hero I can really get behind. I didn’t hate Aquaman in the past, but he was one of those characters that I didn’t really root for in a battle. Well my friends that has changed! Aquaman is a total bad-ass in his new series.
Issues #1-9, started with Aquaman battling creatures from the Trench to fighting people from the past. Aquaman is pointing his rage at his the one and only, Black Manta as of late. It seems that Aquaman had a team in the past and Manta is killing them off, one by one.
Issue #10 starts with an ally of Aquaman’s finding out what he can about Manta’s operations of late. The ally is known as the Operative and he barely escaped with his life. He knows he needs to give the Intel he recovered to Aquaman. We go from the Operative’s escape to Mera’s questioning Dr. Shin. Mera doesn’t believe that Arthur could have had a secret so big in his life without her knowing.
Did I mention Aquaman is a bad-ass? One of the best Manta versus Aquaman fights occurs in this issue. Also, we actually find out what started this feud and why they are both so determined to be the last man standing. I do not want to give too much away because I want you to get this book and read it for yourself.
DC is on a role and has another hit on their hands. Aquaman is well written by Geoff Johns and the artwork of Ivan Reis is out of this world! I give every issue of Aquaman from #1 to #10 a rating of 10 out of 10. I am an Aquafanatic and proud of it!
