The zero issues for the Bat titles have been very insightful in how everything came together that allowed Bruce Wayne to become the Batman.  In issue #0 of Batman, we are given a masterpiece by Scott Snyder titled, Bright New Yesterday.

This story deals with Bruce’s first attempt of disguises and trying to stop a gang from within.  The gang in question is the Red Hood gang.  Bruce’s mistake that gets him found out, he doesn’t kill the bank manager.  What happens next?  The Red Hood leader orders him to kill himself.  Instead Bruce has other plans.

I could tell you more details but that would give away too much from the story.  Let’s just say Bruce gets away using the sewers.  Later we find Bruce talking to Alfred about his vigilante alter ego.  Bruce then decides to play with some of his “toys”.  While on the roof of his Brownstone, he is interrupted by a Lieutenant Gordon.  Mr. Gordon just wants to share some words of wisdom about downtown Gotham.  As we pan away from the meeting, we see the Red Hood gang has plans to take Wayne down.  But this is here I get a little upset.  It says the story will continue in 2013.  I do not want to wait that long.

There is also an additional story written by James Tynion IV called Tomorrow.  This story deals with the birth of the Bat-signal and how it affects the lives of certain Gotham youths that will grow up to help Batman on his mission of justice.  I thought this story was well written.

Writer: Scott Snyder      Pencils: Greg Capullo    Publisher: DC Comics

The entire comic is worth reading.  I give Batman #0 a 10 out of 10 rating.  So what are you waiting for?  Get your copy today!
