In October 2009, the filmmakers went into an abandoned psychiatric hospital to explore the ‘haunted’ institution, famous for its radical treatment of patients with mental illness. Electroshock, insulin therapy, and lobotomies were commonplace. Once inside, the filmmakers quickly discovered that they were not alone; this story is based on their experiences…

Ah the good old abandoned insane asylum plot, I don’t know why but I’ve always had a soft spot for these type of films. All through-out it’s history the horror genre has always enjoyed dabbling in the spiritual world and whether you’re a fan of the paranormal or not there’s no denying it’s impact on the Horror genre, it’s especially a huge trend as I write this. With the poster stating this film being “Inspired By True Events” I figure the’re talking about other peoples stories of what has happened to them in Greystone Park. Which, if you didn’t already know, is a real abandoned psychiatric hospital.

We see Sean Stone, more known for his acting work in such films as “Wall Street”, “The Doors” and “Natural Born Killers” make his feature length Director debut, he also co-wrote the film with fellow actor Alexander Wraith, both actors star in the film as-well. I’m sure they had help from Sean’s father, Oliver Stone, who also stars in the film, with him being more known for his directing and producing credits it seems to be a bit of role reversal, especially with the fact that Oliver has cast his son in 13 of his films. This film does seem to a hit or miss, it’s catering to what is the trend at the current time but it will split it’s audience with many not favouring the shaky hand cam experience. I can’t make my mind up without actually seeing the film but I do know it’s a film I have marked as a must watch.
