A young girl buys an antique box at a yard sale, unaware that inside the collectible lives a malicious ancient spirit. The girl’s father teams with his ex-wife to find a way to end the curse upon their child.

I’ve always loved a good possession film, I think sub-consciously I’ve been looking for the film that will beat “The Exorcist” but I doubt that will happen, but that wont stop me from looking. With this film it seems they’ve followed the usual formula of possession films, but tried putting there own little twists in it such as the use of Judaism instead of Christianity which is what we have seen in an abundance of these type of films. Also who doesn’t love a creepy kid! Some of the best moments in Horror have come courtesy of a child character.

With Sam Raimi in the Procucers chair we can assume many things about the film but I’ve always felt that he has a few tricks left up his sleeve,  also I’ve always felt that Raimi’s home is in the Horror genre, he just needs to find his way again and we’ll see some great movies. I was hoping to see that start here but upon hearing the news that the film was severely edited to get a PG-13 rating it doesn’t sound like it but I will try and keep faith. The film stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Who played Edward Blake/Comedian in “The Watchmen”), he’s always been a consistently great actor and I was very happy when I learned he had been cast.
