I have a very special interview for you today from an amazing as well as beautiful cosplayer.  She goes by the name Nosóro, and I am sure you have seen her work before.  It is possible you have seen an image of her as you go through images of cons throughout the world and thought, who is this amazing cosplayer?  Well, here’s your answer.

SWN: Who are you and where are you from?

Nosóro: My name is Anna, you may know me as Nosóro. I’m from New York, New York.

SWN: How did you discover cosplay?

Nosóro: My first encounter with cosplay was in 2013, at New York Wizard World Comic Con. At that time, cosplay culture in general was new to me and I had little understanding of how it’s really done. I was a big movie fan and all things geeky and nerdy, but not as much into costumes and dressing up. Not even for Halloween! (lol). But by New York Special Edition 2014, I was completely taken by the whole world of art, superheroes and all the cool costumes people brought to life at the conventions. There (at NYCC SE) I bought my first ever ticket to New York Comic Con. NYCC 2014 was my debut as a cosplayer.

SWN: I really love your version of the Phoenix. How did that I dead come to mind?

Nosóro: My Dark Phoenix is based on the paining of Dark Phoenix done by artist Xia Taptara. One of my friends showed me his work, and I fell in love with it right away. I always loved the Phoenix Force, but it had been cosplayed by others too many times. This art gave me a chance to do something new and original.

SWN: What genres do you cosplay? Which genre is your favorite?

Nosóro: I cosplay any genre, and I don’t have any preferences. I choose my cosplays based on my fascination by certain characters, the inner desire to be like them.

SWN: What is your favorite way to show off a new cosplay?

Nosóro: It’ll be definitely conventions. Photos, no matter how good they are, can’t fully resemble the real life experience.

SWN: If you had to pick one, which cosplay is your favorite?

Nosóro: That is a tough question. I would probably be my Chastity Marks from CHAOS! Comics, since it was my first cosplay ever. It’s the most detailed and 100% true to the original costume I have.

SWN: What was your first cosplay?

Nosóro: Well, Chastity Marks from CHAOS! Comics (lol). Back from NYCC 2014.

SWN: Do you have any new cosplays that you are working on at this moment?

Nosóro: Yes. This year I’m focusing on two cosplays, that I’m going to debut at NYCC 2016. For now, both of them are secret projects. Hint – Marvel (lol)

SWN: Where can our readers see more of your work?

Nosóro: On my Instagram – nosorocosplay and my FB – Nosoro Cosplay

SWN: What advice do you have for “newbies” of the Cosplay scene?

Nosóro: Just follow your passion and don’t let small setbacks discourage you (or big ones!). Create greatness and never stop the quest for perfection!

SWN: Besides cosplay, do you do other modeling?

Nosóro: Yes, I’ve been a photo model since I was 14 and I still do it.

SWN: If you could work with anyone in the field, who would it be and why?

Nosóro: Its a tough question also. There are so many talented people in this industry. Some of them are well known, some are very underrated, but all are brilliant. I always admire people, that are obsessed with details and perfectionism in making of costumes and props. That said, there are simply too many of those people out there for me to choose from and name. Cosplay world is truly full of incredible artistic talent of all sorts.

SWN: I know you are a Star Wars fanatic which leads me to these last questions. Which Star Wars film is your favorite and why? Do you have a favorite character, if so who and why?

Nosóro: As a true Star Wars fan, I am expected to say “I love the originals and hate the sequels”, but it’s not true. Yes, the originals are iconic, but the transition of Anakin Skywalker into Darth Vader in Revenge Of The Sith touched me deeply and changed my opinion about the character. It helped me see the human behind the mask of the bad-ass villain that we all love. But honestly, I love them all, both the movies and the characters. My attachment is to the whole story and the glorious new expansion, that we’re witnessing now.

SWN: Well said!  Spoken like a true fan of the Force.  NERDs make sure to look up her work and if you are at the NYCC 2016 in October, snag us some photos of her secret cosplays and we will share them on the site.  Until next time, unleash your inner NERD!
