Greetings fellow fans of cosplay.  How the hell are ya?  I know it has been a couple of weeks since I posted an interview with a cosplayer, but as I said yesterday I have been one busy NERD.  I have been still posting my Cosplay of the Day images ever day over on my Facebook page, so feel free to check in daily for that. Oh, and for now on, my cosplay interviews will be titled Cosplay Spotlight just because I felt it was more accurate.  I mean, that is what I am doing when I interview someone.  I am spotlighting there talents for you to see.  Today is no different.  I have a very talented and beautiful cosplayer that I first discovered on deviantart.   I think you will agree after reading this interview and checking out her work that she is a force in the world of cosplay.  So, let’s get this party started shall we?

SWN:  Who are you and where are you from?

RQ – I’m just an average girl who loves comics and video games, I am from Williamstown, NJ. (:

SWN:  How did you discover cosplay?

RQ – Back in 2005, a friend of mine and I used to play out the roles of our favorite InuYasha character. She introduced me to MegaCon 2005, I went as Sango from InuYasha because she was my favorite.

SWN:  I really love your version of the Harley Quinn. How did that idea come to mind?

RQ – Hehe~ ^_^; Well, the entire suit is made from vinyl, I had sewn it myself without a pattern, I play her part due to my interest in acting. The hammer itself is about 10/15 pounds alone, which is a simple pickle barrel on a stick. I decided to cosplay Harley because I love Batman, and she’s the most adorable character in the DC Universe hands down! (Of course, that’s just my own opinion!!) I appreciate the compliment! It means mucho! ~~

SWN:  What genres do you cosplay? Which genre is your favorite?

RQ – I generally enjoy cosplaying from comics and video games. It’s my natural calling and I tend to enjoy more detailed cosplays rather than simple anime style cosplays. I’ve been an active comic reader for a couple of years now, and have been playing video games since maybe 7 years old. It’s more fluent and enjoyable when I’m able to connect to the characters.

SWN:  What is your favorite way to show off a new cosplay?

RQ – Debut the costume on a Saturday of a convention. This is simply because that is when the convention has the most people! I also try to show some progress shots on my cosplay page on Facebook to get followers and friends boiling to see more!

SWN:  If you had to pick one, which cosplay is your favorite?

RQ – Sadly, my most favorite cosplay of mine is one that isn’t very known. Needle Woman from Fatal Frame III: The Tormented. It takes roughly 2 hours to get into the costume, so I don’t generally get into her much anymore, but every time I do cosplay her, it just seems that I do the make-up better and better!!

SWN:  What was your first cosplay?

RQ – Other than my crappy first time Sango costume. I think back in 2008, I’d consider my Silent Hill Nurse from Silent Hill 2, I hand sewn my dress out of an XL work shirt that my dad didn’t want anymore, stained it with tea and painted it with acrylics. It was my first hand crafted costume and I’ve seen much much muuuch progress since then!

SWN:  Do you have any new cosplays that you are working on at this moment?

RQ – I am currently working on Final Fantasy 13-2 Lightning Armor (worbla) and Mass Effect 3 Shepard Armor (EVA foam) as we speak.

SWN:  Where can our readers see more of your work?

RQ – My Facebook and DA of course. I am always open to talking to new people and always willing to give tips on cosplays. Any website that you may be looking for me on will be by the name of RachniQueen. My Facebook cosplay page is under: RachniQueen Cosplay

SWN:  What advice do you have for “newbies” of the Cosplay scene?

RQ – Don’t be afraid to cosplay something that someone has already “mastered.” Never let anyone tell you that you’re not good enough to cosplay a character, cosplay who you want and be confident with your choices! Do what you do because you enjoy it, never try to impress anyone except yourself and always keep a positive vibe (especially by choosing the right friends!!) ^_^
