G. I. Joe Battleground is the app everyone should have on their smartphone or tablet.  The app comes to us from Mobage games.  It is a very addictive game.  I mean, I just got the game less than 48 hours ago and I am still hooked. Why is this game so amazing?  Well, first of all, the game uses artwork similar to the backs of the figures that I collected back in the ’80’s.  So, Ripcord looks like the vintage toy and not the film version.  With that being said, I look forward to catching or recruiting more soldiers just to see what their card will look like.  The epic and rare cards actually have movement which makes them awesome.  But enough of my rambling, let me quote the official FB page for a moment.  “G.I. JOE: BATTLEGROUND is an exciting “action figure” adventure RPG where players will assemble teams of iconic Joe and Cobra characters to do battle!”  That quote pretty much says it all, but let me go a little further by sharing some info from the original site.

That’s right, you can choose to be Cobra or a Joe.  Hell, you can even mix your squad for battle.

Plenty of missions with great rewards at the end.

Sometimes, after a battle,  you can capture  an opponent and make them part of your unit.

You even have the option to power up your soldiers to make them more effective in battle.

The only drawback, if you consider it one, in the game is that it is a chess type atmosphere, meaning the characters move like game pieces and not actual soldiers.  I love the game simply because it takes me back in the day when I was a kid playing G.I. Joe in my room and having a blast doing so.  The artwork is fantastic and the storyline is well written.  To see more shots from the game, please make sure to go to the Derf’s Domain FB page and look for the album titled G.I. Joe Battleground.

All in all, I give the game a strong rating of 8.5 out of 10.

One of my favorite cards.  In the game, he actually shots the arrow.  :)

Oh, and feel free to challenge me to a battle or become an ally if you play.  My gamer name is derfsdomain.  :)
