Today I am reviewing He-Man and the Masters of the Universe #1.  I couldn’t help myself in picking up this title.  I mean, I was 6 or 7 when the cartoon as well as the toys originally came out, so of course I have a deep love for anything Eternia.  However, I always thought the bad guys were cooler.  Anyway, let me give you my review.

Issue #1 starts with a woodsman named Adam talking about the vivid dreams he is having of being a hero and taking on an army of evil.  He doesn’t understand why he has these dreams, but they seem so real.  Well, one day after taking clearing part of the forest and taking care of his ill father he comes across a falcon he feels his named Zoar and befriends him.  After another dream, he knows he needs to see the world.

Adam pays a neighbor to look after his father while he is away.  He cannot explain it but he knows he needs to leave and see what’s out there.  Not knowing where to go, he decides to follow Zoar through the forest. As he goes deeper in the forest he is warned by Beastman to return where he came from if he wants to stay safe. Adam is standing in fear and puzzlement since he has never seen this creature before yet he knew his name was Adam.  Before he could act, Beastman attacks and Adam is able to get away.  Adam leads Beastman on a chase until he is able to counterattack the monster.  I will not tell you how, but we know on Eternia, the good always win.

Fast forward to the end of the story and we see Adam going deeper in the wild.  What he doesn’t know is that Skeletor is watching him and he is releasing the troops to get him.  Dead or alive, he wants Adam stopped from his path of knowledge.

I must say, DC has another hit on their hands.  He-Man is well written, illustrated, and just plain awesome!  I cannot wait to see who Adam must fight off next. I give this premiere issue a 10 out of 10 rating.  Get your copy today!
