If I could have one super power what would it be? I’m sorry to do this to you Nerds but I’m gonna get personal on this one. This Nerdtalk question was an easy one for me, you see I suffer from a crippling disease called Fibromyalgia, I can tell you now that it’s a fuckin’ horrible thing to deal with. So if I could have one power it would be the power of healing, that way I could be rid of this literal pain in the ass that I have. Now if I didn’t suffer from this then my other choice would be having the ability to be able to fly, that would be awesome and I’d love to freak people with it, oh the possibilities!

“Wow, that’s a great question. A tough one, though; what does one gauge his response on? Physical prowess? Keen deductive skills? The ability to banter well with super villains?” –Brod**ie Bruce (Mallrats)

One of the age old nerd questions, and yes it’s a tough one. So much to consider. I believe Brodie was right to be perplexed by this question. Obviously to have one super power is a bummer. Ideally, I would want to have all the powers of Spider-Man. It just looks like they would be fun as hell. It would be awesome to just swing around and flipping over everything all the while spouting off smart ass quips to people as I go. That’s right up my alley. I’m already a smart ass, all I really need is the powers.

Spiderman Hanging OutLike I said, all I need is the powers. I already have the outfit too.

However, if I had to choose one, I would choose the power of flight. I would use that like no other. I would just fly everywhere all the damn time. I hate driving and I hate being stuck in traffic even more. The power of flight will definitely solve that problem for me. It would make my morning commute a breeze…plus, it also just looks fun as hell.

And just like Supes in Superman 1 proved, it’s a great way to “pick up” women. Yeah, I went with fly pun.

Well if could pick any super power I would pick … THE FORCE!!!! Shut up the force is a super power! The ability to move really fast, shoot mother freakin lightning from my hands, jump really high, control the weak minded (which is most people I know,) heal wounds, hold my breath for long periods of time, see the future, see into people’s minds, and use a lightsaber without cutting my self in half … sounds pretty damn good to me. Thats a power better than Superman, Wolverine, and Aquaman combined. My midichlorian count would be off the charts, Yo!

The topic for this NERD TALK is what super power would we want. I actually gave this post more thought than others. I was originally going to say Invincibility, but then I thought that was too easy. I mean, I am sure everyone wants to be “bullet proof” or “invincible” in one way or another. So I had to think long and hard what super power I wanted, then BAM, it hit me. My all-time favorite super hero is Firestorm, so why not wish for his power. That is why I chose the power of Transmutation. I mean, if you think about it, transmutation is far better than invincibility on several aspects. First of all, why do you need to be bullet proof when you could change the bullets to popcorn? Second, who needs fancy armor or thick skin, when you can create your own shield or energy barrier to protect you. And third, with the power of transmutation, the possibilities are endless. It is the super power that keeps on giving. You can fly, breath in space, change anything dangerous into something safe, the possibilities are endless. So, my fellow NERDs, you ask me what super power would I want, and I simply say that Transmutation is the power for me.

My answer to this question has changed as I’ve become older. When I was but a young lad I wanted to be Superman because he is awesome and broken as all hell. When I was a bit older I wanted to be a Power Ranger but with Superman like powers. So I could summon a big robot to fight in, but I didn’t need it because I was Superman with a helmet.
Now, however, the answer is dramatically different. Seven years ago I was in a writing class and someone asked me that question. If I could have one super power, what would it be? The answer came to be right away and I’m not even sure where it came from. Water manipulation. It was then that my novel was born. Liquid. Inspired title, I know.
It was the easiest thing for me to envision. A hero in various shades of blue riding around town on a wave, hitting bad guys with churning balls of water, and throwing a spiraling shield or rapids in front of him to deflect enemy blows. He could sense water around him and even see water, like the water in a person’s body, through walls. Imagine a water bender, but cooler.

Water doesn’t have a kryptonite, not really. Is it too hot? Let’s just make a little steam and burn people or use the lowered visibility to escape. Is it too cold? Oh no! I suddenly have an ice sword! Got electricity? Better be careful wit that! You’re standing in a puddle! The only hero that would scare me would be Squirrel Girl! I mean come on! She beat Doctor Doom, Deadpool, Wolverine, MODOK, and Thanos! I wouldn’t stand a chance.

See? I’ve thought about this. A lot. My book isn’t done yet. The first draft is only about half done but it’s constantly on my mind. I already know how it’s going to end. I just need to fill in the big gaps in the middle.

Well seeing as how my favorite comic book characters are Deadpool and Wolverine this is an easy question to answer, healing factor for the win. With healing factor comes pretty much invincibility and no fear in doing what it takes to get the job done. I mean come on look at this picture.

You can’t say that it wouldn’t be awesome to go up against someone like Wolverine and not be worried about the outcome.

I would like to point out while I have your attention that this is a monstrosity
