“Best Halloween movie that isn’t really a Halloween movie”, I had to think real hard for this one as there are many great Halloween themed films but in the end I settled on the 80’s classic “Night Of the Demons”. I actually think this is not just a highly under-rated film but a highly under-rated franchise, the character of ‘Angela’ is such a fun one and brings plenty of entertainment. The film just reeks of 80’s cheese but that’s what makes it so good, you want a film that will let you switch off your brain, be able to kick back and just enjoy the fun, this film allows you to do that.

The film is full of the Halloween spirit and I class it as ‘must see viewing’, especially at this time of year, this film may have passed you by or you haven’t seen it for years or like me it’s one of your favourites, whichever is the answer it’s a great excuse to watch it and what better time than during Halloween!

My favorite film that takes place around Halloween is the 1994 classic, The Crow.  Nothing like a tortured soul to come back from the dead and seek vengeance on those who killed him and his love.  This is just a classic on so many levels.  I cannot say enough about this film. The concept of Devil’s Night and the burning of buildings for greed and power was a great concept, especially since it gave something for the anti-hero to come back and destroy. Brandon Lee as Eric Draven is hands down his best performance in cinema.  It is unfortunate that he died filming the Crow because he had a bright future ahead.  So, no matter how you view movies, do yourself a favor and watch this classic if you have never seen it and if you have, see it again!

I’m going with two movies that for some reason no matter when I see them I think Halloween … Beetlejuice and The Addams Family. beetlejuice

These are pretty much two movies (three if you count the squeal to Addams Family) that are loved by everybody (right? everybody loves these movies, right?) and are instant classics when they came out. Neither movie has anything to do with Halloween but for some reason these are Halloween movies to me. Every year they are on the must watch list for my Halloween play list. So if its “Go ahead, make my millennium” or “I’m a homicidal maniac, they look just like everyone else” its a Halloween movie!
