Capture

A journalist and his son travel to Nebraska to investigate the mysterious town of Gaitlin where, unbeknownst to them, a murderous cult of children are waiting in the corn fields.

It took 8 years but they finally made a much wanted sequel.

After such a long wait peoples expectations may have been a little high, and rightly so, but those expectations were not to be met. From the off you can tell the budget is lower, the acting is not as good as the first and the plot hasn’t changed much.

The films plot really doesn’t stray too far from the first film, killer kids seeking blood for ‘he who walk behind the rows’. With it being a continuation from the first feature it leaves giant plot holes, I’m talking gigantic, if you can try and look past that (which I just couldn’t manage) then the film is not too shabby.

Despite this the death scenes are very well done, which is a saving grace for the film. True, the effects are dated but it adds to the films charm and lets be honest here, the 90’s wasn’t exactly filled with great Horror films, although creepy kids never get boring.

My big problem with this feature is that is that it missed a great opportunity, to follow on straight after the first films plot by recreating it was lazy. There was so much they could have done yet they went with the easy option, that was a serious disappointment for me.

“Children Of The Corn II – The Final Sacrifice” is an easy watch, just seriously don’t expect too much.
