Capture

Two brothers, formerly of the murderous children’s cult of Gatlin Nebraska, are taken to Chicago by an unwitting couple.

Who’d have thought that after the catastrophe of “COTC II” that the series would continue.

Luckily this time around the writers have pushed the story forward and have taken the setting into a different environment. This can be a tricky thing to do but luckily it works out and if anything even sets a great atmosphere and tone.

The two young boys could easily have been one dimensional characters but it seems the writers really took their time fleshing them out and gave them more of a personality clash, which was wrote well with their age gaps and change of location.

Director James D.R. Hickox did a great job and got the franchise rolling again, it could easily have been the film to end it all especially as “he who walks behind the rows” is finally revealed to us. Although I must admit I was kind of disappointed in the monster but you can see what they were trying for so you’ve got to give credit for that.

This entry is one of my favourites in the series and I was gladly surprised by how much I enjoyed it and despite it’s flaws the story is highly enjoyable, there are some amazing scenes and the script work is really good.

“Children Of The Corn III – Urban Harvest” is a strong entry in the franchise and is definitely worth a watch, especially if you enjoyed the first entry.

Miscellaneous facts about the film:

Charlize Theron’s first movie.

Eli’s Corn Bible is the hardcover edition of Stephen King’s “Night Shift” with an altered cover.

Nicholas Brendon’s first movie.

The 27 September 1993 draft of the screenplay lists Matt Greenberg as a writer. He received no credit for the final film.
