When three rappers want to get even with a pimp, they accidentally unleash a leprechaun who goes on a killing rampage in the ‘hood.

Well I never saw this one coming!

With four years passing since the previous film it looked as if this franchise was dead in the water, I should’ve known better than that really and here we are with our beloved ‘Leprechaun’ being placed in the hood. Unfortunately this one just didn’t grab me.

I know I’ve said in the other reviews of these films that you should enjoy them for what they are and that they’re not to be taken seriously and whilst that still stands, this film just had nothing at all that entertained me.

It just felt like it tried to hard to be funny instead of being naturally funny, there was no flow to it at all and it was obvious the jokes had run out and the characters time had passed. Even the cast don’t seem bothered here and give half assed performances.

How this managed to get the green light to be made I’ll never know but it’s obvious that it shouldn’t have. The usually fun wackiness is just way over the top here, instead of being so bad it’s good, this is so bad it just stinks.

“Leprechaun In The Hood” was an awful concept and is best avoided.

Miscellaneous facts about the film:

Had the closest release date to St. Patrick’s Day. Was released to DVD on March 28, 2000.

This is the fifth movie in the Leprechaun series, although the number “5” doesn’t appear anywhere in the title or credits.

Last entry to be released by Trimark.
