Well folks, there you have it. The entire “Poltergeist” series review.
It’s been so much fun looking over this franchise.
As great as the franchise is there’s no doubting it was struck by some serious bad luck, so much of it that it was labelled a cursed franchise. I actually did a piece on it on Raz’s Midnight Macabre which can be readHERE.
The series is also responsible for giving us one of the creepiest characters ever with ‘Reverend Henry Kane’, Julian Beck played him so well, a little too well actually because his performance still gives me goosebumps to this day. Now altogether now – “God is in his holy temple….”
We can’t miss out the star of the franchise, Heather O’Rourke, she truly had a chance of a great future, especially in the Horror genre and could’ve become a modern day Scream Queen. Her death at the young age of 12 was a true tragedy but at-least she left us with great performances with this trilogy, which is a great legacy to leave behind.
Not too long ago it was announced that the film was getting the remake treatment with Sam Raimi in the producers chair, personally I don’t want it and also feel it’s a little bit disrespectful. It’s not a film that needs to be remade, it’s still as good today as it was back then and it has really aged well. But that’s just my opinion.
“Poltergeist” is a fantastic franchise and whilst it’s mainly known for the first film the sequels deserve a-lot of credit as-well.
