Thrill-seeking teenagers resurrect a demon from his grave and a bloody rampage for revenge begins.

I was excited to watch this sequel as I absolutely loved the first instalment, disappointing is an understatement.

Pumpkinhead 2 Bloodwings 6

The sequel came 4 years after the original and personally I wish they hadn’t of bothered, compared to it’s predecessor it’s god damn awful. Now I know this film has it’s fans but I could never understand why, I’m all for a ‘it’s so bad it’s good’ film but this is a ‘so bad it should be banned’.

From the first few minutes of the film you can tell what you’re in for, director Jeff Burr did a horrible job, the film has huge plot holes to the point where you find yourself scratching your head. It just seemed like the films crew and cast had no clue what was going on.

Pumpkinhead 2 Bloodwings 8

The casting doesn’t make it any better, I’m all for amateur actors and upcoming talent but when it’s bad you have to be honest and the cast from this film seem like they just picked random people off the street. This isn’t helped by the fact that every character is irritating and annoying and very much dispensable, leaving you to root for no-one and not able to connect with any of them.

I could forgive all this if the films cinematography was good, but alas it is just as awful as everything else in the film. Nothing ruins a movie more than bad cinematography and this film is chock-a-block with it. ‘Pumpkinhead’ himself is not as impressive in this feature, in the first he looked so authentic and terrifying but in this sequel he isn’t and that just takes away so much from it’s scare factor, of whicvh this film has none.

“Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings” is a terrible sequel and best avoided if possible, you won’t get that time back.

Miscellaneous facts about the film:

Soleil Moon Frye had to gain 20 pounds for her role as Marcie in this film.

The ‘Book of the Dead’ prop from “Army of Darkness (1992)” is on display inside Haggis’s house. KNB Effects worked on both films.

Jeff Burr on the DVD’s audio commentary, a few short seconds were cut from the film in order to avoid an NC-17.

Shot in twenty-four days.
