Alice returns to where the nightmare began: The Hive in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU… IT’S FINALLY FINISHED!

This sequel and final entry in the franchise wasn’t released until four years after it’s predecessor, the longest wait the fans of the series had had, it was so surprising to see  that the fanbase was still there and waited for so long. After all the previous films and a four year wait you’d think people would’ve seen these films for what they are and moved on.

Actors from previous movies: Sienna Guillory (Jill Valentine), Li Bingbing (Ada Wong), Aryana Engineer (Becky), Spencer Locke (K-Mart), Michelle Rodriguez (Rain Ocampo), Wentworth Miller (Chris Redfield) and Johann Urb (Leon S. Kennedy) were not invited to return for the last movie and instead new (cheaper) characters were introduced, apparently this was a ‘business decision’, if I was a fan I would’ve been pissed.

I remember when this film was being made and reading reports of horrible accidents on set,  a crew member on the film’s shoot in South Africa was standing near a Humvee that was located on a rotating platform. Apparently, the Humvee was not properly secured and it slid off the platform. when this happened it pinned Cornelius against a wall and crushed him.

The crew member was rushed to the hospital and placed on life support, but unfortunately he passed away a short while later. There was  also an incident involving a stuntwoman who suffered a severe injury to her left arm after a motorcycle crash and ultimately had to have the arm amputated. It’s so sad when this happens and it’s surprising how often it does.

“Resident Evil: The Final Chapter”, all I can say is that the best thing about this film is that it as the end. Nuff Said

Miscellaneous facts about the film:

Megan Charpentier had outgrown the role of the Red Queen, which she previously played in Resident Evil: Retribution (2012), and was recast with Milla Jovovich and Paul W.S. Anderson’s real life daughter Ever Gabo Jovovich Anderson in her feature film debut.

Unlike Resident: Afterlife (2010) and Resident Evil: Retribution (2012) director ‘Paul W.S. Anderson’ didn’t shoot this in 3D.

The film was originally slated to start filming in Fall 2013 for a September 12, 2014 release date but was canceled for a 2016 release instead. The reason for the film delay was due to the series star Milla Jovovich becoming pregnant with her second child

The film sees the return of Ali Larter as Claire Redfield. The character was last seen in Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010).

Sienna Guillory announced on Twitter that she was never asked to join the project to reprise her role of Jill Valentine. She did however acknowledge thanks from all the fans for their support for her performance as the character.

The outfit that Claire Redfield, Ali Larter’s character, wears is the same outfit that was worn by Claire Redfield in the game Resident Evil: Revelations 2.

Actress Bingbing Li, who plays Ada Wong had to leave production before shooting started because of her schedule with another movie in China.

A number of YouTubers who were in Capetown, South Africa for a convention were given a chance to appear in sequences for the film as zombies.

As of this film, Milla Jovovich is the only actor to appear in every single film of the series.

In the film’s chronology, it takes place merely three weeks after the previous film’s events Resident Evil: Retribution (2012) despite getting released four years after it.

95% of this film was shot with a hand-held camera which the director controlled himself.

The Jeep that Alice (Milla Jovovich) rode in the beginning of the film has a B.S.A.A. sign tinted on it. In the video game series, B.S.A.A. is a major group that fought bioterrorism. One of it’s founding members is Chris Redfield

On the side of the army hummer the letters BSAA can be seen. This is short for Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance, this is the name of an anti-bioterrorism task force in the game franchise.

Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Iain Glen, and Shawn Roberts are the only actors to reprise their roles from previous installments.

Busani “Alisdair” Ncube, a Zimbabwean man, travelled over 1000 miles for a chance to appear in the movie as an extra but ran out of money along the way.

Final day of filming took place 10th December 2015 in Belhar, South Africa.

Lee Joon-Gi, a Korean actor popular in his home country, makes his American feature film debut with this film, playing the Umbrella Corporation’s Commander Lee.

Has the longest run-time out of all the films in the series, with 106 minutes. The second longest was the first film, with a length of 102 minutes.

The film was released almost 15 years after the first Resident Evil (2002) film, which would have been the series’ fifteen year anniversary.

Alice in Wonderland reference (apart from the Red Queen and the main character’s name): the Jabberwocky at the start of the movie, based on John Tenniel’s illustration for Through the Looking-Glass.

The film comes out on January 27, 2017, three days after the release of the new installment of the video game series, Resident Evil 7: biohazard

Feature film debut of TV Personality Rola.

Marks the first time a “Resident Evil” movie and an “Underworld” movie get released in the same month.

All the films of the series were dubbed in pure Tamil. For the first time in the franchise, a three minute Tamil song was composed and released for promoting the film. As a result, the film attained a huge success in Tamil Nadu, India and the song was also praised. The initial verse starts as ‘Yaaro Ival Pen Iraiviyo? Edhiril enna maranamo?’ meaning ‘Is she a goddess facing death eye to eye?’

The clock that Alice wears in the movie is actually a fitness clock from Garmin. It’s a simple Vivofit.

The ‘air intake for the hive’ with those big fan blades was actually a wind tunnel, the kind used to test aircraft designs.

The sewer sequence in the film is homage to the video games sequence in Resident Evil 2.

The memories that Alicia Marcus uploads for Alice at the end of the movie are actually real home videos of Ever Anderson (Red Queen/young Alicia) considering her father is the director Paul W. S. Anderson and her mother is Milla Jovovich (Alice) it made sense. A couple of the pictures can be seen on Milla’s Instagram.
