Well here we are, the last film in the “Silent, Night, Deadly Night” franchise so let’s get on with it…

A young boy sees his father killed by a toy that was anonymously delivered to his house. After that, he is too traumatized to speak, and his mother must deal with both him and the loss of her husband. Meanwhile, a toy maker named Joe Peto builds some suspicious-looking toys, and a mysterious man creeps around both the toy store and the boy’s house…but who is responsible for the killer toys?

After the disappointment of the last 3 films it kind of takes it out of you and to be honest with you I had to get myself really motivated to watch this film, I left it till the last minute to actually watch it and I will say this…. I’m glad I finally watched it!

We are taken back to Christmas time, we are once again given an evil Santa, also if you enjoy your killer toy films such as “Puppet Master” or “Demonic Toys” then this film is right up your alley.

Yes it’s cheesy, I mean REALLY cheesy but you see past that because you’re just so happy they’ve FINALLY brought back the Christmas theme to a Christmas Horror franchise.

The acting isn’t great, but Mickey Rooney is brilliant as Santa and even though you’ll laugh a-lot more than you’ll be scared it is worth a watch. You get the sense that someone, somewhere gave the studios a kick up the ass to do this and try bring it back round to the original themes of the film, And whoever that is I’d love to shake their hand and thank them.

It’s a great end to the franchise, I just wish they would have thought of it after number 2 or 3 because the Horror crowd alienated this film, there’s only so many times you can be let down. This one is worth watching and I thoroughly suggest you do just that :)

Miscellaneous fact about the film:

Mickey Rooney wrote a letter of protest against the first Silent Night, Deadly Night stating that the “scum” who made it should be “run out of town” for having sullied the sacredness of Christmas. And yet he co-starred in this fifth installment in the gory horror series.

The characters Pino and Petto are references to Pinocchio and Gepetto, from the classic animated film, Pinocchio.
