Back in 2011, Dark Horse released a 5 issue mini-series from the Star Wars universe.  The book was titled, Darth Vader and the Lost Command.  It takes place not long after the Revenge of the Sith and showcases just how truly troubled, as well as powerful, Darth Vader really is.

The Emperor has sent Vader to the Atoan system to locate an Imperial Admiral.  This commander is the son of Grand Moff Tarkin.  Under the Grand Moff’s suggestion, the Emperor sends Vader with another Imperial leader, Captain Shale.  This requested because Tarkin wants his son alive and not a victim of Vader’s rage.  Vader agrees on the escort because the Emperor demanded it, but he did not like it.

They get to the Atoan system and realize all is not what it appears to be.  Once they get closer to finding the Admiral, they are met with resistance.  A rebellion if you will.  During this time, Vader kills a lot of the resistance by himself when they are met by a priestess known as Lady Saro.  She agrees to help them if they make her queen of the system.  Well, Vader agrees and the search is back on.

Needless to say, Vader had no intention to make her or anyone a leader.  In fact, Vader was sanctioned to kill Tarkin’s son if he can make it look like the resistance did it.  That was not a problem for Vader, since he is a skilled master of the Force.  Anyway, when they do find Admiral Tarkin, they realize he was with the resistance.  But here’s the kicker, so is Shale.  So Vader has no choice to take them all out.

Some of you may claim that I ruined the story with all these clues, but I can guarantee that there are things in here that you won’t see coming.  Haden Blackman is a great writer and deserves any award that he can receive because anything of his that I read is a guaranteed classic.  This comic gets a 10 out of 10 rating hands down!
