The Walking Dead has gained a lot of popularity the past couple of years through the AMC series by the same name.  Hell, some people do not even realize that it was a comic first.  All the talk this year at Comic-con was about season 3 of the series.  I am sure there was also just as much focus of today’s review.

The Walking Dead comic reached a milestone this month.  That milestone simply put is 100.  The 100th issue of the Walking Dead was released.  And let me tell you it is F’N awesome!  To fill you in on what happened in past issues, allow me a few lines to explain.  The group is in a state of mourning after losing a member.  And they are preparing for an attack by Negan and his men.  (Don’t know who Negan is? Buy a couple of past issues.) Rick and the group are trying to prepare for the worst.

Issue #100 starts with some of the members making their rounds while Rick and the some of the others are trying to make it to safety off the road.  They are unable to reach their target destination so they set up camp on the road and take turns on watch while the others sleep in the van. When it’s Rick’s watch, he is taken from behind by some of Negan’s men and the others are captured as well.  There are simply too many people to fight off.

A couple of moments pass, but it seems like an eternity while they wait on Negan to find out their fate.  Well, as any bad guy, Negan talks a lot to keep the reader in suspense.  He goes through the group and proceeds to pick a victim for Lucille, which is a baseball bat with barbed wire wrapped around it.  He makes his choice and beats their head in.  He continues to beat this person to death until the head is nothing more than a pile of goo.  Rick plows revenge but Negan calls him out and lets him know who is in charge and they expect payment every week to keep them alive.

Now I know, some of you want me to throw names out but I cannot.  You see, the person who dies is an important character in the Walking Dead universe and I do not want to spoil it for anyone.  This book definitely gets 10 out of 10 rating.  Hell, I am tempted to give it a 15 out of 10 rating because it is just that damn good!  Kirkman is a genius! ‘nuff said.
