Found footage helps a true-crime novelist realize how and why a family was murdered in his new home, though his discoveries put his entire family in the path of a supernatural entity.
Just look at that one-sheet, It’s been a while since a one-sheet caught my attention like this one. Unfortunately a great one-sheet doesn’t guarantee a great film, trust me I’ve learnt from experience. With this film it seems more on the Thriller genre side with elements of Horror through-out. We also have a few found footage scenes which should make for a great mixture and make you look out for those small pieces of evidence. The film seems in the same vein as “Insidious” and “Paranormal Activity”, it even says on the poster ‘From the Producer of Paranormal Activity and Insidious’ so that isn’t much of a surprise. Personally I thoroughly enjoyed “Insidious” and this seems to look like a great addition to the Paranormal genre.
With Scott Derrickson in the directors chair you can guarantee that the film will be creepy, jumpy & not boring to watch. With his past work that’s easy to say with films such as “Urban Legends: Final Cut”, “Hellraiser: Inferno”, “The Exorcism of Emily Rose” and more he is fastly growing a name for himself in the genre and this could be the film to push him forward. Also the film stars Ethan Hawke (“Daybreakers”, “Assault on Precinct 13”) before you get confused, no he not Johnny ‘Drama’ Chase from the TV series “Entourage”, although he does bare a striking resemblance to Kevin Dillon. We also have Vincent D’Onofrio (“The Cell”, “Men in Black”, “The Thirteenth Floor”, “Ed Wood”) who can forget his role as Pvt. Leonard ‘Gomer Pyle’ Lawrence in Stanley Kubrick’s “Full Metal Jacket”. I’m really looking forward to this release, it seems to have too much potential to fail (fingers crossed).
