Greetings Galactic Beings of the NERDom Universe,
Who else is excited about Guardians finally being released this weekend? I know that all of us at Somewhatnerdy are dying to see this film and cannot wait to tell you all about it (without spoilers of course). The excitement for this movie added to the 2014 SDCC announcements have us willing to share our enthusiasm. As I promised earlier today, I want to keep that SDCC vibe going throughout the week until the release of the Guardians of the Galaxy. How do I plan to do this? Simple, I have more great interviews lined up as well as reviews of all things Guardians. For day one of this countdown, I shall review the app, Guardians of the Galaxy: The Universal Weapon. Before I give you my thoughts and feelings on the game, lets see exactly what you can expect from the product description (as it is stated on Amazon.com).

Today was the first day that I was able to purchase the app for my Kindle Fire HD, but it was well worth the wait. Hell, I had to charge my battery after playing this game for so long. Sure it is not the usual type of game that I find myself playing for hours at a time, but it draws you in because it is just plain and simple fun. For starters you are Star Lord and you are trying to free your friends from prison. You are guided through the game by Cosmos, the Russian space dog. The more team members you free, the harder the game gets, as it should. You really need to have your swiping finger ready for this game because the enemies come fast and sometimes in multitudes. Hell, in the arena area, your enemies teleport right by you.
Another thing I like about this App, is the use of comic style storyboards in between your levels. It really helps tie in the story as well as make the game fun for all. As you go further in the game, the more people you can recruit on your team. Some of the characters you will unlock eventually are Beta Ray Bill, Mantis, and Angela. Now the art style may have you think that the game is kid friendly but keep in mind that it is rated M as in for mature.
I gladly give this game/app a strong rating of 8 out of 10. it is just pure FUN. I am sure the more I play it, the higher my rating will be. One thing is for sure, it has gotten me really pumped to see the film. Don’t forget to come back tomorrow for another Guardians related post as we countdown to August 1 and the Guardian’s film debut.
