It’s Halloween and what better way to celebrate than watching some scary movies?! Whether it’s on your own, with your partner or with the kids there’s films for all. So here’s some films set around Halloween for your recommendation.
Adult
Halloween (1978)
I thought I’d start with most the obvious, it’s a true classic and not just for Halloween, truth be told though it has a better effect when viewing it on my favourite holiday.
Halloween III: Season Of The Witch (1982)
I know this is part of the “Halloween” franchise but it often gets overlooked for not featuring ‘Michael Myers’. You should give it a watch, it’s a great story.
Satan’s Little Helper (2004)
Brought to us by Jeff Lieberman, this film has become one of my most essential films to watch around this time of year.
House Of 1000 Corpses (2003)
Set on All Hallows’ Eve this debut film by Rob Zombie is highly entertaining.
Trick ‘r Treat (2007)
Four stories woven together in this fantastic Halloween film.
Jack-O (1995)
Admittedly this falls into the “it’s so bad t’s good” category but after a few drinks it’s a-lot of fun.
Murder Party (2007)
This Horror comedy flew under the radar upon it release but I do recommend you give it a watch, blood and laughs galore.
Sam Hell (2008)
Who doesn’t love a film set on Halloween night located in a haunted house attraction?!
Night Of The Demons (1988)
One of my all time favourite Halloween themed horror films!
Idle Hands (1999)
Another Horror comedy that it’s full of laughs more than scares but still an entertaining watch.
May (2002)
Don’t watch this film unless you’re in a serious mood, it makes for depressing viewing.
Lady In White (1988)
A highly under-rated film that deserves more credit.
Kids/Family
Casper (1995)
Great fun for the family on Halloween.
Monster House (2006)
This animated feature puts a great spin on the scary house films.
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
Half Halloween film, Half Christmas film. Tim Burtons classic can be watched for either holiday.
Don’t Look Under The Bed (1999)
This Disney TV feature is spooky good fun and sure to keep your kids entertained.
Hocus Pocus (1993)
My favourite kids Halloween themed film!
