We continue Adam’s journey to find something he has lost. He doesn’t realize what that something is, but he senses something is missing. We the readers know that what he is missing is his memories of being He-man and being the Master of the Universe. We first get a glimpse of Castle Grayskull as Beastman is begging for his life. How did Skeletor take over Grayskull has yet to be seen, but that is the case for now. Skeletor shows mercy and allows the beast to live.
Meanwhile, in a far-off desert, we find Adam and Zoar, searching for water on his journey of discovery. They are captured by nomads and brought to the Arid Spring Oasis. There Adam meets their leader Kronis aka Trap-Jaw. He will keep Adam prisoner until dawn when Adam can petition for his life.
During the night, Adam is visited by a familiar face although he cannot recollect where he has seen here before. Her name is Teela and she is drawn to Adam for he seems familiar to her as well, but she also has no memories of a not so past life.
Dawn arrives too soon and Adam is put to the test. It seems his body remembers things that his mind has forgotten, for example fighting an army with only a sword. Trap-Jaw has seen enough and goes in for the kill when Teela causes a distraction that allows them to escape.
What future trials will Adam face? With Teela’s help, will their memories return? Who knows? All I know is I cannot wait for issue #3 to see what happens next.
I said this before, but it still holds true, He-Man is well written, illustrated, and just plain awesome! I cannot wait to see who Skeletor sends after Adam next. I give this issue a 12 out of 10 rating. Get your copy today!
