Only 3 more days until the release of Guardians of the Galaxy. As promised, I am doing pots that are somehow related to the Guardians franchise. Today I take a closer look at Rocket Raccoon issue #1. Yes, I am aware that the book has been out for a couple of weeks. That is why I am titling this post, In case you missed it. See what I did there, lol.
Anyway, when I heard that Marvel gave Skottie Young the helm of the new Rocket Raccoon series, I was very amused. I love Skottie’s art and I felt that it would be a good feel for that character. And boy, was I right. Let’s get right to the story.
Rocket Raccoon #1, starts with Rocket on a “date” at a galactic wrestling match that his best pal, Groot, happens to be wrestling in. His date is not that impressed, but for some strange reason she chooses to stay. Well, during this match, they are captured by the Kiss Cam and it is at this moment all hell breaks loose. The camera realizes it is Rocket and sets off a security protocol. It turns out that Rocket is wanted for murder. The strange thing is, these particular murders he knows he did not commit. These occurrences bring up more questions than answers. Rocket and his fellow Guardians know it is impossible to be at two places at once so that must mean there is another, but how? Since when? Hopefully these questions will be answered in issue #2.
Of course, I could tell you more details of what went down in this issue but I do not want to spoil anything for you. Skottie Young has a ht on his hand and I am anxious to see where this series goes. I give Rocket Raccoon a strong 8 out of 10 rating. Until next time, get your READ on!
