Nerds and Nerdettes, this post marks the return of in case you missed it. For those of you who don’t know, I occasionally write posts about comics that I feel should get extra attention so you don’t miss them, or let them “slip through the cracks’. This week, I am focusing on a new mini-series titled the Mocking Dead from Dynamite publishing. Hell, I didn’t even realize this tile existed until I was making some changes to my Comixology folder. I was looking at future comics and noticed a Mocking Dead #2 cover that made me laugh and then I was like, wait a minute, there is a new Zombie Comic? So I did my research and sure enough there it was. I was too late to get issue #1 in my folder but thanks to the convenience of ebay I was able to get a copy of the Mocking Dead#1 and I was truly entertained.
The Mocking Dead is a must have! Don’t get me wrong, I am a die hard Walking Dead fan (thanks Kris and Jonathan) and nothing will take that place in my heart, but I feel the Mocking Dead is something all Zombie fans should get. Why should you read the Mocking Dead? First of all it is just straight up Zombie humor. It pokes fun at comics, television, movies, and yes the Walking Dead. One more reason to love the Mocking Dead is the fact that all the attacks you are witnessing occur in Pennsylvania. To true Zombie fans, you will know the importance of Pennsylvania and the birth of the Zombie craze.
The Mocking Dead is written by Fred Van Lente with art by Max Dunbar and is published by Dynamite comics. I give this comic a strong 8.5 rating out of 10 and would recommend it to a friend or foe. After reading issue #1, I placed the remaining issues in my comic folder so I am guaranteed not to miss an issue. I hope you enjoyed this review and until next time, Get your read on!
