I know Monday is the day I make my usual cosplay interview posts, but I wanted to share a special interview with you today. The subject of my interview is the amazingly beautiful Freckle Sue. Some of you may know her from conventions or because of her work on the site Cosplay Deviants (NSFW). I was first told about Freckle Sue a couple of years ago by some mutual friends and I have been following her cosplay since. I wanted to interview her for a while now and we got to talking via FB messenger and here is the end result. Remember guys and gals that Cosplay Deviants is a NSFW site and if you don’t agree with nudity as an art form you should just not go to that site. Now, sit back, relax, and enjoy the interview with the one and only, Freckle Sue.
1. Who are you and where are you from?
Hello! My name is Freckle Sue and I am from THE INTERNET. Haha, sorry. In all seriousness I am from the sunshine state of Florida. The state where tourist visit and old people come to die but plus side you can walk outside for five minutes and walk back inside with a tan!
2. How did you discover cosplay?
I believe it was back in my freshmen year. I lived in VA for a while and came back to FL to visit and my friends took me to my very first convention. Two of my friends were dressed up as character from video games and they explained to me they were ‘cosplay’ing. To not be left out, I dressed like a pirate, Pirates of the Caribbean had just came out that year so I had a good excuse!
3. I really love your Black Canary cosplay. What made you choose her?
I didn’t choose her which is shocking! Two years ago, Cosplay Deviants, whom I’ve been working at since I was 18, invited me to a Convention called C2E2 in Chicago. At the time, I only had a few sets out and my boss approached me and suggested I pick a comic book character to even out all the anime I’ve been doing. They suggest Black Canary. I looked her up and fell in love with her look plus her whole story line. I looked up all these photos and swore that I was going to bring this character justice and was going to knock it out of the park. C2E2 was the convention I did Black Canary for the first time and was pleased with the reactions. There is a photo out there that I fell out of my chair laughing over. It was a picture of me posing as Black Canary, you know, bending forward, hands by my mouth, being all sexy and right behind me. There is a CROWED of guys with all their heads pointed down, looking at my butt. Best moment ever.
4. Just because I know some people are curious, what made you decide to cosplay in the nude?
Revenge. I’m going to have to go into detail about this aren’t I? You see, I never thought about doing any of this. Modeling, cosplaying and posing nude but when a good friend of mine approached me with a card from Cosplay Deviants and requested I give it to a girl I knew, it caught my attention. When I found out it was a opening for cosplaying models I suggested perhaps I should try it. I was young, I thought I was in good shape and pretty enough so why not? My friend just told me he didn’t think this was my kind of ‘thing’. So! To prove him wrong, I took the card, sent in an e-mail for a request for an interview and BAM. Nude modeling.
5. What other genres do you cosplay?
Normally I do a lot of Anime and Comic books. I’m not a big gamer, closest to a video game I’ve played and loved was ‘Havest Moon’ from 64. Hush that is a kick ass game. All you do is Farm, flirt with girls and marry them! I even got a guy to turn gay for me! Sorry, I’m getting off topic. But because I’m not a big gamer fan, I try to stay away from gamer characters. I don’t want to dress up as a character I have One: No idea who they are Two: What their story plot is Three: Have no interest at all in. I want to have my fans and others look at me and believe I could be real and if they approach me and ask something about that character, I want to be able to react like them or be able to talk about them and know it.
6. Do you go to conventions to show off your cosplay or do you do photo shoots only?
I do both really. I love conventions, its like my second secret life that the real world doesn’t understand. But I will not lie, I am vain so I love showing off my cosplays, I take pride in the outfits I worked hard on and want to show it off… and I’m still in shape so I wanna show that off while I have it!
7. Do you do other modeling besides cosplay?
I don’t. I have a full time career that takes up all my time. My Cosplay modeling is my free time pleasure. I don’t want to make a living out of it, I simply want to enjoy it and be able to turn around when I’m like 80 and say, ‘I did that… and I looked good.’
8. What are your plans for the future?
I have a very simply plan. I want to met a guy, fall in love, get married and perhaps have a kid of two. Being a house wife would be nice, or a trophy wife could be better haha but no, I plan to find someone and finally have my dream of walking past the front door and having someone there to welcome me home.
9. Where can my readers see more examples of your work?
The main place for you to see my work is on the main website where I work. www.cosplaydeviants.com (NSFW). You will not be disappointed, but you can also check out my Like page on Facebook, Just look up Freckle Sue and see some behind the scenes photo shoots or upcoming cosplays or even suggest your own. Or if your bored, read the strange stories that are my life.

10. If you had to pick one cosplay, which one is your favorite?
Oh that’s a tough one. Of all the cosplays I did. The top two are Black Canary and Yoko from Gurren Laggon. If I had to pick, I would have to say my Yoko cosplay. I’m A Florida girl, Bikini top, short shorts is my main attire at home haha!
