Happy Valentine’s Day my fellow Nerds! Since it is the day of love, I decided to do some special posts with what our fans seem to love. One of the things that you, our readers, seem to love is my interviews with talented and beautiful cosplayers. So, I decided to make a special post with a special cosplayer. You may have seen her work recently as a female Lobo. which has become a hit on the web. So without further delay, I present to you my interview with the beautiful and talented Meg.
1. Who are you and where are you from?: Meg – and currently in the Orlando area.
2. How did you discover cosplay?: Completely by accident. Years ago I was asked to help out at a local convention by a family member (who is a toy collector by trade). I showed up ended up meeting George Romero (died a little on the inside due to glee) and noticed people there in costumes, having a great time, and it wasn’t Halloween. My mind was blown. Ever since then I’ve been attending conventions, spending way to much money on art and action figures and making sure I at least had one costume for them.
3. I really love your Lobo cosplay. How did that idea surface?: Thanks man. I love me that fragg’n Czarnian. I tend to only doll up as characters I’ve read on and enjoy. 99% of the time that tends to be loud mouth braggarts (see question #10).
4. I am also a fan of your Valkyrie cosplay. What made you choose her?: Same initial reason as Lobo –Valks has always been the epitome of a strong (albeit sassy) woman. And I love playing with swords. Even though one of these days I’ll probably lose a limb.
5. What other genres do you cosplay?: Horror, Sci-fi and Comic. I’ve done everything from classic horror (The Bride) to Trek (Seven). A few goals this year include Frankenhooker, Peyton Riley and Lionel Cosgrove.
6. Do you have any other hobbies besides cosplay?: Playing writer for an all-women run horror blog called GoresTruly (www.gorestruly.com). Otherwise singing really bad karaoke, MTG and pining for the day when I move back to a coast and re-pick up daily surfing again.
7. Do you do other modeling besides cosplay?: Not really. One of my closet friends runs SGH PhotoArt – and I do a lot of my costume shoots with him when I want pictures or whatever he needs. We can have a beer and joke and spend the rest of the non-shooting time talking about really really crappy horror flicks.
8. What are your plans for the future?: Open up a horror/comic themed bar and/or buy a boat and live near the keys while rich people pay me to let them jump off my boat in scuba gear. I’d be completely okay with either.
9. Where can my readers see more examples of your work?: I try to upload one or two shots of my costumes to buddhafulx.deviantart.com/ but I slack. A whole bunch. I’m also on tumblr (zombiesonlywantmeformybrains.tumblr.com/) but I tend to slack there too. I should work on that.
10. If you had to pick one cosplay, which one is your favorite?: My ED2 Ashley Williams. It’s comfortable. Simple and the best excuse to say Hail to the Queen – baby.
