Well hello fellow Nerds, did you think I forgot today was Monday? I had quite an eventful day but I did set aside time in my day to make sure that all you cosplay fans got your fix on Monday. As they say, better late than never, right? LoL Anyway, today I bring you an interview with a very beautiful and talented cosplayer from Italy. She goes by the name Sbabby, and she is very talented. So without further ado, here is my interview with Sbabby.
1. Who are you and where are you from?
Hello Somewhatnerdy readers , I’m Sbabby, from Milan, Italy [so turn the super Mario accent on as you read my answers! – it’s-a me, Sbabby!]. My full name is Barbara Rodolfi, I’m 16… Ok I’m 24 [dammit] and I’ve been cosplaying for 5 years
2. How did you discover cosplay?
I’ve always been into comics, manga and video games and on some magazine they use to sell at the comic shop, Giorgia Cosplay was often featured, and I loved her aaaah so much! Also I’m quite crafty and always wanted to learn how to sew, and when my grandpa bought me a sewing machine back in 2004 I started practicing. I eventually made my first 2 costumes as my boyfriend came up with the idea of cosplaying Cou and Ren from Elemental Gelade. It was such a beautiful experience for me, I never quit since then!
3. I really love your Ms. Marvel cosplay. What made you choose her?
As I grew older I got more comfortable with my body and my looks in general, I felt it was time for me to impersonate a sexy, powerful and independent comic book-girl ^^ I chose her because well, I love faux leather and just learned to make leotards LOL also, I think somewhere deep in my ego I secretly want to be a BLONDE.
4. Have you cosplayed other comic characters?
Not yet, I have some Marvel girls in project [Emma Frost or Jean Grey? I can’t choose!] and a DC girl, Selina Kyle – I’m also temped to make a Poison Ivy costume, I’m not sure yet!
5. What other genres do you cosplay?
Manga and Videogames, I can’t really tell you what genre I like best because I choose a character to cosplay each time for different reasons: sometimes I can relate to the character, sometimes she has a side in her personality that I wish I had and sometime I just like the outfit or think is challenging to make ^^ I like to improve at sewing and making props!
6. Do you go to conventions to show off your cosplay or do you do photo shoots only?
I do both!
7. Do you do other modeling besides cosplay?
Sort of, on my FB page you can find some of my modeling pictures. But I’m not a model, I do that for fun!
8. What are your plans for the future?
Cosplay plans, I’m working on a quite intricate costume [a “secret” one :P] that hopefully I’ll be wearing at Cartoomics in March. This summer I’ll make a photo shoot cosplaying as Leia from SW. Yes, the bikini-slave version! STAY TUNED! :D
