Well let me tell you why I’m curious, I’m curious to see what the great partnership of Campbell and Raimi will do with the film in today’s industry. It’s just like when Wes Craven went back and decided to remake “The Last House On The Left “, I was curious to see the differences between the two and what changes were made.

I know I will end up watching it sooner or later, like I said I have low will power when it comes to these things. Plus the fact that it’s my job to watch and review these films despite the fact that I may be against them.

Problem is deep down I know I will not be able to enjoy it, scratch that I know for a fact that I will not let myself enjoy it. Due to my love for the original film I will fuss and nit pick over every little detail until the credits stop rolling. I do hope it’s good and that other people may enjoy it, I have no problem with others enjoying it, that’s fine. But to me you’ll never, EVER be able to beat the original.

And isn’t that the point in remakes? Bettering what has come before it? And one thing we have to remember is the fact that neither Campbell or Raimi are directing it, that duty is being done by Fede Alvarez. This will be his debut full length feature (no pressure pal) Campbell and Raimi are only serving as Producers, so is Robert G. Tapert who has produced all 3 “Evil Dead” films so far but I see it as Raimi passing the torch on-to a new generation.

The casting isn’t much to be desired, Jane Levy who is more known for romantic comedy roles not a full blown Horror. Shiloh Fernandez isn’t exactly the worst actor but I’m not his biggest fan. Jessica Lucas who you may remember for her role as the annoying girlfriend in “Cloverfield”, hopefully she’s not as annoying in this film. Lou Taylor Pucci who had a great start in “Carriers” but slowly went downhill and Elizabeth Blackmore who isn’t the most experienced actress. Not much to get excited about but I’ll give them a chance, who knows?!

To Campbell and Raimi I say good luck, all I can hope for out of this is that they team up once again and do something original. I mean lets face facts, neither are getting any younger (Sam Raimi’s 53 and Bruce Campbell’s 54) and I know fans would love to see this legendary partnership bring us something new and original.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for that but this time I won’t get my hopes up. In the meantime I’m off to watch “Evil Dead II”, the original remake ;)
