Anyone who has been a DC Comics fan since the Golden Age of Comics have heard of the man Nick Cardy. He is a legend in the business we all love and care so deeply about. In my opinion he has some of the best Aquaman comic covers ever drawn. On another note, Nick Cardy is a veteran from the WW II era. That is why I waited until today to write this review on his book, Nick Cardy: the Artist at War.
Nick Cardy: the Artist at War is a collection of Nick’s art as well as stories from his life in the military during WW II. Through his artwork, you can almost imagine yourself there as he describes the scene as we look at the images before us. When you are an artist, your art is your outlet or “escape” from the world around you and this book is proof of that. Imagine yourself in the trenches during these times, wouldn’t you want an escape? It was during these times, that Nick seems to perfect his tools and become the artist we all know and love. It was inspiring to see not only the war, but the world through his eyes. Nick Cardy is a true American hero in so many ways. Not only did he fight the fight, he told the stories using his God given talent.
The book, Nick Cardy: the Artist at War is published by Titan Books and published in 2011. I feel that this book is a must have for all. Not only is it a great piece of history, it is a great piece of art! I could go on and on about all the great things about this book, but you really need to see it for yourself. I give this book a PERFECT 10 out of 10 rating and recommend it to all. The holidays are around the corner, so you may want to keep this book in mind for your loved ones who love comics are simply just a WW II buff. As I said earlier, this book is a must have for ALL.
