We start with a recap of “Halloween 4” Michael has once again survived and is once again in another coma, only for a year this time, he awakens the day before Halloween and heads for Haddonfield where he has unfinished business, killing Jamie.
This film was a hit and miss, it could’ve been a rarity where a film franchise is up-to number 5 and still going strong. But for me personally the film has too many flaws.
The character of Jamie is now in a children’s psychiatric ward and is so traumatized from the events of from the previous film she’s become a mute, unable to speak or even scream. Now in theory this could’ve been a good idea, but you’ve now got a main character who doesn’t speak. throughout the whole film it’s like an episode of Lassie, people trying to figure out what she’s saying throughout the whole film. It does become tedious after a while.
The film does have its good points, Donald Pleasance, as usual, is fantastic. Dr. Loomis is still intent on stopping Michael, even after all he’s been through himself. it becomes more and more personal with every film and even though were up-to number 5, your still rooting for him, even more so than than the first 2 films.
Despite her age Danielle Harris (Jamie) you see her talent as an actress shine through, like it’s what she was born to do, and is why even now shes still in demand and still loved by Horror fans. Yes the film has its ups and downs but what do you expect when we’re now in the 4th Myers installment (Don’t forget Halloween lll). It is worth a watch, especially if you’ve seen the previous films.

The bus that the Man in Black gets off of stops outside the exact same store where Jamie and Rachel went to get a Halloween costume in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers.
Don Shanks revealed in an interview that many of the scenes involving the man in black had him playing the character, because of speculation that he was a blood relative of Michael Myers. He also admitted that even the writers uncertain about the man in black’s identity.
The scene where Michael Myers drives a car while wearing a different kind of mask was initially scripted to have him wear a Ronald Reagan mask. However, the idea of a Reagan mask was soon rejected in order to keep the film devoid of any political subtexts.
KNB Effects had designed grotesque facial makeup for Michael Myers’ unmasking towards the end of the film. The producers told them to do so as an option, either showing Michael’s badly scarred face or keep it in the dark. They went for the latter.
In the infamous laundry chute scene, Jamie was originally stabbed in the leg but the shot was cut from the film by the MPAA because it was deemed “too disturbing”. Danielle Harris still owns the prosthetic leg.
As part of the opening, an alternate scene was shot but never used. The scene shows a man who finds Michael Myers body at the beginning and removes his mask, staring at it weirdly. The filming of it can be seen in the documentary, “Inside Halloween 5”.
Director Dominique Othenin-Girard ‘s name is incorrectly spelled “Dominique Otherin-Girard” in the opening credits.
This was the only Halloween movie never released in Italy.
The film was released straight to video outside of North America.
Max (Rachel’s dog) is the fourth dog to die in the series.
The script added two “bumbling” cops, Deputies Nick and Tom, with their own “clown theme” in the background to homage a scene in Wes Craven’s The Last House on the Left.
The film had been fighting an X rating with the violence, blood, and gore. Some scenes were trimmed down to keep it Rated R.
