Well folks, there you have it. The entire “Cabin Fever” franchise review.
It’s been fun looking back over this franchise.
I’ve always liked the fact that every Cabin Fever movie to date has an underlying skull in the background of the poster, I know it’s something subtle but it’s something that adds to the film’s personality, it’s something fun for fans to look out for.
Apparently Eli Roth had a really hard time selling “Cabin Fever”, many of the film’s potential financiers found the film’s content to be extremely unsettling, including not only the gore but also the use of the word “nigger” early in the film but he refused to tone it down despite constant requests to do so. I commend him for that as it helped the Horror genre get out of a rut.
There’s no doubting the film’s sequels didn’t live up to the first film but “Cabin Fever: Patient Zero” was fun, it’s just annoying as a viewer that the sequels seemed to go the lazy route when they had the potential to be so much more.
There were talks of more sequels being made but that seems to have changed and now it’s supposed to be a remake of the original film with Eli Roth producing, even more disappointing is that they’re using the same script just with new characters.
The “Cabin Fever” franchise isn’t a strong one but we’ll always have the original to enjoy.
