Every franchise has it’s bad entries, some aren’t just as good as their predecessors, some really are just plain awful.
“Creepshow III” is most definitely the latter, it was so hard for me to re-watch this film for this review, it felt like I was returning to a traumatic experience. Yes I think it’s THAT bad. I must add that the first time i watched it i didn’t make it to the end and after finally watching it all the way through i can safely say i didn’t miss out on anything.
I know a-lot of people that were really excited for this release, 19 years since “Creepshow II” is a long gap and with a rich history it was understandable that people wanted to see it. I have yet to meet anyone who’s watched it and enjoyed it.
Now I will say that some of the stories in the film had great potential to be something good, not great but good. These are hampered by bad editing, bad directing, bad acting and some god awful CGI. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg for what’s wrong with this release.
Do yourself a favour, if you haven’t already watched it then don’t bother, it’s a over a 100 minutes of your life that you’ll never get back. I know this review may seem short but there’s only so much you can say about a film this awful.
“Creepshow III” is as bad as you’ve heard, seriously just stay away from it.
Miscellaneous facts about the film:
According to one of Professor Dayton’s wedding invitations, the neighborhood in which all of Creepshow III’s stories take place is called “CREEPYVILLE”.
Creepshow III, unlike Creepshow (1982) & Creepshow 2 (1987), has no involvement from either Stephen King or George A. Romero – the series creators.
Unlike the King/Romero-helmed Creepshows, Creepshow III has CGI animation in place of traditional animation.
Creepshow III does NOT take it’s stories from a fictional “CREEPSHOW” comic book.
One of the humorous props in “The Radio” is the bottle of Arrogant Bastard Ale in Andy’s kitchen. The slogan on the beer case reads: “You’re Not Worthy”.
