Eight strangers awaken with no memory and find themselves in a puzzling cube shaped room where the laws of physics do not always apply.

After the huge success of “Cube” it was no surprise that a sequel would be made, no-one thought it would take 5 years though.

The problem with waiting so long for a sequel is you’re expectations can get too high, if anyone had those expectations for this film then they would be truly disappointed. The film is more sleek and stylish than the first release, gone are the dirt, grit and darkness, this time we have bright white rooms and a-lot of C.G.I.

Also gone are the great character developments which made the first film, I’d love to have got to known each character a bit more as they are such an eclectic group that there was so much they could do with them.

You can understand the direction of this sequel, going more down the sci-fi route than horror but the plot just gets muddled up in itself, the reason the first film worked so well was the simplicity of it all, with this plot you have to keep up with what’s going on, some people have even said they needed to watch it 2-3 times before finally getting it.

With this sequel I must admit that I’m stuck in the middle, whilst I didn’t love it I also didn’t hate it. I loved the fact that they didn’t just release a cloned sequel of the first film but felt that there were elements  that should have been included. But I must admit that the ending was very well done in moving forward the story.

This sequel isn’t the greatest but it could’ve been worse. It’s also a film where you really need to concentrate or else you will get lost in the science of it all, it’s worth a watch but be prepared to have your thinking caps on.
