Detective Lucas McCarthy finally apprehends “Meat Cleaver Max” and watches the electric chair execution from the audience. But killing Max Jenke only elevated him to another level of reality.
I was in two minds whether to include this film or not, officially it’s not part of the “House” franchise, The producers renamed this film “House 3” for the non-US market. But it has become unofficially part of the franchise so I thought it’d be best to.
Admittedly this film is my least favourite, if you’ve seen the film “Shocker” then you don’t need to watch this as it’s near enough exactly the same. Only difference is, is that “Shocker” is so much better, maybe if Mitch Pileggi had been in “House III” instead then maybe it could’ve been different.
It’s a shame I couldn’t like this film (trust me I’ve tried) as it has an amazing cast with the likes of Lance Henriksen and Brion James as our main actors. Brion James has even stated in several interviews that of all the roles he’s played, this is his favourite and his enthusiasm shoes, maybe a little too much.
The film does have some redeeming qualities to it, mainly the effects which are done seriously well. Plus if you’re a fan of a script filled with profanity then this film is definitely up your alley, for me it just got really boring after a while. I’m all for swearing, I swear like a sailor myself but in film I’ve felt that in a film it’s often over used to cover up a weak script and that is definitely the point here.
Some people love this film and that’s fine, that’s their opinion, but for me I just couldn’t get into it at all. Apparently there were some behind-the-scenes production problems on this film and that never helps at all, if that was the case then it certainly showed.
If you’ve not seen this film then you’re not really missing out on anything, like I said before you’re better off watching “Shocker” instead.
