Well folks, there you have it. The entire “House” series review.
It’s been interesting looking over one this franchise.
I was seriously excited when this franchise was voted to be reviewed as I have very fond memories of them. It was only watching them over again that I realised that I only really enjoyed the first two releases and the other two where a-lot better when in my memory but after re-watching them I realised they were better off left in the past, that’s that memory tarnished.
The first two films though are ones that just get better with each watch, I love William Katt as ‘Roger Cobb’, he maybe remembered best known as the star of “The Greatest American Hero” but every-time I see him in something it’s always “IT’S ROGER COBB FROM HOUSE” just like when you see George Wendt in “House” and you end up shouting “NORM!”
The second film was just as much fun as a viewer and ‘Gramps’ is one of my favourite characters in the whole franchise, he maybe a walking corpse but he’s so lovable and you just smile every-time he shows up on screen. Then you move to “House 3: The Horror Show” or the ‘unofficial’ film of the franchise. “House 3: The Horror Show” is a sequel like “Zombi 2 ” is a sequel, I seriously do wish this film hadn’t been attached to the franchise as it really is a stinker.
Then the final release with “House 4”, it’s fair to say that the franchise really did end on a whimper. It’s something we see all to often with Horror franchises and it’s a true shame as this had serious potential to be a great franchise that could’ve gone on for more than four films.
Just watch the first two releases and save yourselves a-lot of time and disappointment by avoiding the last two. They’re so much more fun and films you could watch with the kids aswell, they’ve got to start somewhere ;)
