A group of kids go to a Halloween party, only to have to face down a group of demons.
over 20 years after the original it was only a matter of time before this got caught up in the studios popular remake cycle.
A big shock for me was that the directorial duties were handed to someone who had only one film under their belt, it’s not every day you see an amateur handed a $10,000,000 budget and the reigns to a highly loved franchise.
The casting wasn’t exactly brilliant, we have a washed up Edward Furlong who only seems to get work in b-movie films these days and also Shannon Elizabeth who isn’t exactly one of my favourite actresses.
The films plot is basically just a modern updated version of the original and whilst it has scenes that are obviously done in homage to the first film it just comes off as laziness and unoriginal, it’s just a waste of a chance to try something different and make your own stamp on the franchise.
The flick does have it’s moments and there is a cheesiness to it but what the film is truly lacking is the past films heart, it embraced what it was and that was part of it’s charm.
“Night Of The Demons” isn’t the greatest remake but it also isn’t the worse but truth be told if you’re in the mood for a film like this you just can’t beat the original.
