The Benson family move into 112 Ocean Avenue.
6 years after Michael Bays company “Platinum Dunes” released their remake, we got a new release that everyone saw coming.
For those of you that where shocked that the series got a ‘Found Fottage’ entry may I ask you, “SERIOUSLY?!” I said for a few years before this was released that I was shocked it hadn’t happened already.
Unfortunately ‘The Asylum’ got there first and let’s be honest they don’t have the greatest track record in this genre, still I had hope that it would be better than some other entries in the series that we’ve had.
Now I will be honest, I’ve always thought the idea of a ‘found footage’ film set in the Amityville house would be awesome, but only if done well. This had a chance to thrust the ‘Amityville’ story into the now and scare a new generation. That chance was severely wasted as it just went along with the tried and tested method we’ve seen a million times before.
The film does little to keep your attention and when you do get the inevitable jump scenes you only open your mouth to yawn not scream. I just couldn’t believe that this was actually released under the ‘Amityville’ name, but then again this is release number ten so what was I expecting?!
“The Amityville Haunting” is not worth it of carrying the name, you’d be better off watching the “Paranormal Activity” films than this rip-off.
