Well folks, there you have it. The entire “The Omen” franchise review.
I’ve quite enjoyed looking back over this franchise.
This series contains one of my all time favourite scenes, the decapitation scene from the first film. David Warner kept his severed head for years after the film until his divorce when for some reason reson his ex wife obtained custody of it, I’ll leave it upto you to think why.
I’ve always thought that Writer David Seltzer was proud of his work until I started researching the franchise, he is quoted saying: “I did it strictly for the money. I was flat broke. It’s very pleasant not having to worry about grocery bills for the first time in my life. I just wish I’d had this kind of success with something I personally found more meaningful…I do find it horrifying how many people believe all this silliness.”
Despite saying this I do highly recommend that you give the book a read, it’s a highly thrilling read and even though the film is amazing the mind comes up with scarier images than what they can show on screen. There is a series of books and even though they do differ in quality as they’re one by different writers I suggest you give them a try.
“The Omen” is now following the trend of the moment and is now a tv series named “Damien”, I haven’t watched it myself yet and honestly I don’t know if I will, I’ll see how people react to the first series. If you’re a fan of the films then you should definitely watch the documentary “The Omen Legacy”, it’s a great insight and is highly interesting and informative.
“The Omen” is a franchise that has a strong legacy and rightly so but lets be honest, 90% of that relies on the first film
