That psycho stepfather has escaped from the insane asylum and had his face surgically altered.
Just read that plot outline again, yeah this is seriously what they went ahead with.
Apparently Terry O’Quinn turned down the chance to reprise the role of ‘The Stepfather’, which resulted in the storyline being changed so that the character got plastic surgery to alter his appearance. Why we couldn’t just drop it and leave it alone is beyond me.
This ended up being a T movie which goes to show you how little faith studios had in this project, they must’ve seen this coming from a mile away as it seems the budget got cut drastically and you can’t really blame them either.
By now the material is old, where keeping with the same plot outline and it’s a very tired concept with no forward movement. Even if Terry O’Quinn was in this film it’s hard to imagine where they’d go with it. Film-makers need to learn when enough is enough.
The acting in this feature is, well it’s bad, there’s no way around it really. All this in mind it’s a shocker that the film clocks in at around and hour and 45 minutes, even with more of a Slasher element than a thriller it got boring very quickly and for it to go on so long was unreal.
I’d steer clear of this entry in the franchise, I give them credit for trying but it just really didn’t work.
