Well folks, there you have it. The entire “The Toxic Avenger” series review
It’s been sooo much fun looking over this franchise.
I’ve always found it amazing how much of an impact ‘Toxie’ had, it’s had its own stage musical production, a children’s TV cartoon, a comic series, video game and more. For a film that was so outrageous and so low budget that’s a real shocker, I mean just watch the films!
Unfortunately none of it lasted long, the cartoon ended up only having 13 episodes which is a shame as it was so much fun, even as an adult. The comic series only had 11 issues released through none other than Marvel comics, a business deal I’ve always found strange, especially with the amount of independent comic businesses that were about at the time.
Of-course with every franchise these days there has been word a remake/reboot, the remake was said to be aiming for a family-friendly PG-13 release which is disappointing really but I guess it’ll be similar to the Toxic Crusaders which was supposed to have it’s own live action release. We’ll just have to wait and see.
I do urge you to go back and watch this series, it’s so much fun! I’m talking exaggerated gore, way too much un-needed nudity, an abundance of political incorrectness, hell it probably set back mankind about 50 years but who the hell cares, Troma doesn’t and that’s one of the reasons why we love them so much.
“The Toxic Avenger” is not for everyone but for those of you who don’t like it I feel sorry for you, you’re missing out on low budget greatness.
