Well folks, there you have it. The entire “Witchboard” franchise review.
It’s been interesting looking back over this franchise.
I haven’t seen these films in years and it was real fun rediscovering these lost gems, I must say that the first film has especially been lost over time and deserves more recognition than it gets. I was shocked at how much I enjoyed it, I honestly didn’t expect it.
Like I said though it deserves more recognition, it bucked the trend of a lot of horror films at the time and featured very little nudity and very little blood. It was very much story driven and the sequels followed that and I found that refreshing even now.
One thing I’d like to point out is that this series features two of the most annoying characters I have ever watched, the characters of ‘Zarabeth’ the psychic and ‘Elaine’ the landlady, I cringed every time they came on my screen and I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking that.
There has been rumours of a remake or a reboot of the series, it’s no surprise with how popular the supernatural genre is at the moment but there’s so many now and with the “Ouija” films turning into a series these would just get lost in the mix.
The “Witchboard” franchise is one appreciated by those who have fond memories of the films and those who appreciate films on the lower budget end. Give them a try, at least the first feature and rediscover them like I did.
