I finally got to catch up on some reading and boy do I have a comic for you. Savage Wolverine is part of the revolution or the Marvel Now movement over at Marvel Comics. Some series have been great while others have been not so great. Savage Wolverine however is perfect.
Issue #1 has it all. The Savage Land, S.H.I.E.L.D., Wolverine and a whole lot of those prehistoric animals we love so much when the X-men go to the Savage Land. This issue begins with Shanna leading a S.H.I.E.L.D. team to the Forbidden Island to find out more about some weird readings on their equipment. Well, as the team gets too close, the crash never to be heard from again.
Fast forward 8 months and you have Wolverine showing up on the island not knowing how he got there. Before he can get up, he is attacked by a reptilian local who lets him know that he is indeed in the Savage Land. As Logan goes through the woods he comes across some natives with a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent as a prisoner. He knows this cannot be good so he decides to step in and save the agent.
Logan fought well but the agent did not survive due to his injuries. The agent was able to point Logan in the right direction. That is when he comes across the wreckage that the agents were using as a base. While investigating, Logan bumps into Shanna and she proceeds to tell him about their 8 months trapped on the Forbidden Island. Before Shanna can finish her story, they are attacked by Sauron and his Reapers. What happens next you ask? You got to get the issue to find out as well as getting issue #2 when it hits stands in February.
Frank Cho has done it again! This is truly a masterpiece of writing as well as artwork. I give this issue a perfect rating of 10 out of 10. You really need to get your copy today that is if you hadn’t already.
