In issue #1, we left the Avengers with a hard choice. That choice was to keep fighting the cannibals on their own or trust that Dr. Doom has the cure for this disease and will help them. Only thing is what is Doom’s angle? I mean, what’s the catch?
Well, in issue #2 we find out exactly what the catch was. Doom wants to be called Emperor of the Earth and he wants his foes to kneel before him. Well, of course Thor and the other surviving Avengers told Doom what he could do with his offer and began to battle him. Well, Doom proved that he was more powerful since the last time he bumped heads with the Avengers.
In the midst of this “discussion”, Hercules and the mole men came up from underground and attacked the Avengers. Dr. Doom told the Avengers they should have taken his offer and stood aside while the Avengers fought for their very life. Hawkeye tried to reason with Doom, but did Doom give in? Did he show the Avengers what power he has and how he can cure the planet? Well, get issue #2 and read it for yourself.
I gave The Marvel Universe vs., The Avengers #2 a rating of 8 out of 10. The writing was strong and indeed deserved a strong rating. I cannot wait to see what’s in store for issue #3.
