Welcome to the fourth edition of Walking Dead Wednesday here at Somewhatnerdy. Are you still having Walking Dead withdrawals? I know I am. As I have said before, we are big Walking Dead fans. But not everyone has read the Walking Dead comics, so every two weeks, I will post a review on one of the trades that are out there for you to enjoy in book stores around the world. Today’s focus is Volume 4: The Heart’s Desire. This trade collects issues # 19-24.
We get our first glimpse of Michonne in this collection of Walking Dead comics. She makes her way to the prison by following Otis on one of his supply runs. And boy she sure has good timing because as we left of in volume 3 Dexter had Rick and the gang at a standstill and he wanted them to leave his prison. Well, Rick knew what was out there and he wasn’t going to give up a secure area like a prison that easily.
Before they could talk it out, they were attacked by some Walkers who got out of Cell Block A. The attention drawn at the Zombies, Rick took a chance and handled Dexter while the others were busy. Hey, it’s the apocalypse; you got to do what you got to do. Well, while this fighting was going on, Otis was trapped and being overtaken by Walkers when Michonne saved his ass. This ends up granting her a place to stay in the prison.
This is where things do not become that simple. Let’s just say couples are made while others are broken. There is the death of one of the originals as well as a suicide attempt. Allies are made and friendships are broken. I want to tell you so much, but I want you to read this series for yourself. I know if you enjoy the show you will love the comics! So go to your local bookstore and get your copy of The Walking Dead: The Heart’s Desire today. Of course I give this novel a perfect rating of 10 out of 10. So what are you waiting for? Get your copy now!
