Who remembers Kenner’s rendition of “The Man of Steel” as part of their Super Powers action figure line? Released as one of the first in the line of super heroes from Kenner, for the avid collector Superman had been released also on the consecutive series with different offers on them and of course the card backs ranging from the initial 12 back release (fan club offer) all the way to the 33 back (offer less). As a fan of the man of steel there was only one card back that I was after that was form the 2nd series. the CLARK KENT OFFER.
This figure was also available on Canadian and Mexican card backs. But the Canadian is Kenner and the Mexican release being produced by Lili Ledy. Carded Lili Ledy examples are rare and htf and can demand high prices.
Lets talk about the figure it self. The mold was great for the time, capturing the bulkiness of the super hero and the hair swoosh. The cloth cape was a winner for me. Now the feature that sticks out the most POWER ACTION PUNCH! While other major action figure lines were dying out and also with limited articulation, this figure brought something new to the playing field. Squeeze the legs and watch him fist pumpJ. Now you were able to upper cut the foe and recreate the most famous pose and pretend to fly away.
With available vehicles (super mobile) and other super heroes from the justice league, this contribution from Kenner in the world of action figures and the world of superman is nothing short of great, even though we have come a long way from this release in the likeliness and in the superman franchise, this particular action is one ill always remember!
