In my opinion, Transformers Prime: Rage of the Dinobots is going to be a classic series from IDW comics. The Dinobots have always been one of my favorites since I was a kid. I remember having all kind of fun wars with my dinobot toys as a child. When I was reading this issue, flashbacks of my childhood kept rushing forward.
Issue #1 begins after the Autobots and Decepticon war and the aftermath and damage of what they knew as Cybertron. While Megatron and Optimus left, there were Autobots fighting the good fight to make sure every Autobot had a chance to escape the hell they once called home. Some of these heroes that stayed to fight were Grimlock and his band of Dinobots. As they were fighting to help Ultra Magnus escape Cybertron, they notice his ship go down. The Dinobots think that Ultra Magnus may still live but so does the Predacon who shot him down, a villain you may know as Ser-Ket.
Grimlock leads the Dinobots to the wreckage to look for survivors. What they find is one mean Predacon. They fight and trade blows, but the Predacon manages to get away. But that isn’t the worst of it, he has one of the Dinobots with him. Meanwhile on Ser-Ket’s ship, we find out that the Predacons are working for Shockwave.
Who was the Dinobot that was taken? Is Ultra Magnus alive or dead? What happens next? Well, to answer those questions you need to pick up issue #1 now and issue #2 when it hits the shelves.
I am a major Transformers fan and I have to say this is the best storyline I have seen in a long time and it’s only the first issue. So, I have to give this title a rating of 15 out of 10. The writing is top notch and the artwork is truly mind-blowing! Kudos to IDW for finding such talented writers as well as an amazing artist to bring the Dinobots to life.
