You thought you knew the DC Universe and then Bam!\u00a0 Geoff Johns drops a bomb in your lap.\u00a0 Who knew that by one man changing time to save a loved one, doomed millions to their deaths?\u00a0 In case you haven\u2019t figured it out, today\u2019s Flashback Friday is about the events that happened in Flashpoint.\u00a0 I admit, I purposely waited to get the trade instead of buying the single issues as they came out.\u00a0 I did get several one shots as well as the Citizen Cold and Legion of Doom story arcs.\u00a0 Anyway, back to the core of Flashpoint.<\/h4>\n

Flashpoint stars the Flash and his journey in trying to return to his world.\u00a0 It starts with a memory of his mother to being awakened at work.\u00a0 He over hears a distress call on the scanner and he runs into action.\u00a0 Only thing is, he has no powers.\u00a0 It also turns out, no one has heard of Superman, Hall Jordan is not the Green Lantern, and Aquaman and Wonder Woman are bad guys trying to take over the world.\u00a0 Imagine the shock going through Barry Allen\u2019s mind as he is trying to grasp what is going on.<\/h4>\n

Barry tries to get help by going to the bat cave in search of Bruce to be attacked by Batman who is not Bruce but his father Thomas Wayne.\u00a0 Well, the Flash is able to make an ally when he lets Batman know his plan of fixing things right so that the world he knows will return in existence.\u00a0 He lets Batman know that Reverse Flash is behind all of this.\u00a0 So they try to round up some help.\u00a0 The help they get comes in the form of Cyborg, the Element Woman, and Shazam.\u00a0 Eventually a newly freed Superman comes to the rescue but that is towards the end.<\/h4>\n

Flash realizes they must try to reason with Aquaman and Wonder Woman but this doesn\u2019t go so well since there is a war going on.\u00a0 In the midst of all this, the Reverse Flash comes into play and makes the Flash realize he \u00a0is responsible for all that has happened.\u00a0 He actually thanks Barry because in doing so he can kill the Flash and still exist, but that point is proven useless when Batman kills him.\u00a0 To make a long story short, the Flash is able to fix things.\u00a0 Well, sort of.\u00a0 I mean, we know that is what leads to events that allow the new 52 to be born.<\/h4>\n

This story is well written and illustrated!\u00a0 I am glad I picked up this trade and I plan on getting the accompanying trades that go with it.\u00a0 I already have by copy of Flashpoint: Green Lantern and I cannot wait to crack it open.\u00a0 I give Flashpoint a rating of 10 out of 10.\u00a0 Get your copy today!<\/h4>\n
